  • We are excited to announce that the Commonwealth Bank has been awarded the 2012 Catalyst Award.

This global award honours exceptional business initiatives that advance women in the workplace.  It recognises innovative organisational approaches with proven, measurable results that address the recruitment, development and advancement of all women in the workplace.

Catalyst’s rigorous, six-month assessment of our diversity and inclusion initiatives involved an intensive on-site evaluation at our offices in Sydney where representatives from Catalyst conducted focus groups and interviews with a range of our employees.

Our award focuses on our transformational culture change and diversity programs that provides opportunities for women and diverse employees to excel.

    Specifically it focuses on:

    • Our long term culture change program launched in 2004 that has strengthened our reputation as an employer of choice and created an environment where diversity and inclusion can flourish
    • Demonstrating a commitment to gender diversity by setting the first public target in Australian financial services for women’s representation at senior levels
    • Implementing unique diversity programs including mandatory and in-depth unconscious bias training for all senior leaders; and
    • Ensuring that leaders are held accountable for diversity progress and are measured on diversity-related goals and performance indicators

As one of only two recipients honored in 2012, our CEO will accept the award in New York in March alongside Sodexo, the other award winner.

This news will be announced to the media today.
